FAQs

What is hypnosis?

Hypnosis has been used for thousands of years. It is a natural state of mind, an altered state of consciousness. You are not asleep, nor are you wide-awake, but you are always in control of yourself. You may feel in a deep state of relaxation. You may not feel that anything is happening to you; this does not mean that you are not in hypnosis. Hypnosis may help people to use the power of their own mind to solve problems going on in their mind. It does not interfere in your free will. You will not do anything that is not acceptable to you.

Are there some people who cannot be hypnotised?

It can be difficult to hypnotise people who are very drunk, high on drugs, or people who have far below average intelligence, as well as people who do not wish to be hypnotised. It is important that you want to change and realise that the therapist is there to assist you in making the changes that you wish to make.

Will I be in control of myself and be aware of what is happening?

Yes. When in hypnosis you will be in control of yourself. You don't go to sleep, you don't go under, nor do you go into a trance. You are not unconscious. You cannot be made to do or say anything that you don't want to. You can hear everything that is being said. You are in control.

What is hypnotherapy?

A hypnotherapist uses hypnosis as a powerful tool, not as a cure. Hypnotherapy is simply a therapy, which uses hypnosis to facilitate change in a person, but only if that person wishes to change.

Is hypnosis safe?

Yes. Hypnosis has no unpleasant or unwanted side effects, nor is it addictive. Neither drugs nor tablets are used to assist the process.

After a session, will I remember what happened?

Yes, most people remember what was said by them and by the therapist.

Is there a danger that I will be stuck in a trance state?

All people naturally experience a degree of trance everyday for example when driving, learning or playing sport. There is no danger of being stuck in a trance state and you may terminate the hypnotic session at any time you wish. If you were ever left in the hypnotised state by a therapist or by a hypnotic tape, you would either fall into a natural state of sleep, and wake up after a short nap, or you would just return to full consciousness on your own.

What is Time Line Therapy™?

Time Line Therapy™ devised by Dr.Tad James in the 1980s, after extensive research is proving to be an increasingly popular and effective form of therapy since it offers a fast and effective means for changing the chain of events leading to a certain set of unwanted behaviours or internal states. Past Negative Emotions and limiting decisions are eliminated leaving you feeling positive. As we are all individuals the therapy sessions will be tailored to suit your needs.

Will it hurt?

No. Time Line Therapy™ is painless but sometimes you can feel slightly more emotional and tired but you are totally in control, more positive and generally feel 'lighter' and 'more liberated'.
